Poppy Lawson - an experienced, if still young, centre half - was already something of a star upon her arrival in Leith, having arrived in EH7 from a little-known English club called Manchester United…
Captain of the Red Devils’ U21 side at a mere 18 years of age, Lawson has been picking on attackers far older than her for a number of years now. That bulldog like attitude still shows no signs of stopping. In her final year with United, she lifted the FA WSL Academy League title as skipper.
Signing her first professional contract in the summer of 2022 to join Hibernian, Lawson has shown she’s not afraid to challenge for the ball whilst under pressure.
Becoming something of an understudy to Joelle Murray and Siobhan Hunter, our number 33 became a standout last term. She was instrumental in all three of our derby victories last season and was sublime at the back as we overcame Glasgow City in the Scottish Cup.
Lawson has also been known on occasion to score the odd goal, finding the net six times last season - including a double versus Aberdeen in the League Cup, as well as a crucial late equaliser against Glasgow City in the league.
