Bio
After recovering from heart surgery, Harry McKirdy is looking to show what he can do at Hibernian FC.
The forward was brought up in Stoke-On-Trent and spent much of his early years within the Stoke City Academy before moving to Aston Villa in his teenage years, where he linked up with his new Hibernian team-mate Jake Doyle-Hayes.
McKirdy worked his way up the age groups at Aston Villa featuring for the U23 before heading out on his first loan spell to Stevenage where he managed three goals in 13 appearances.
The front-man also spent half of the 2017/18 season at fellow League Two side Crewe Alexandra, picking up another three goals in 16 appearances.
His third loan spell was at Newport County where he helped the League Two side reach the Play-Off final, scoring once for the Club.
In May 2019, McKirdy left Aston Villa to sign permanently for Carlisle United. The striker clearly benefitted from playing regular, First Team football as he gained consistent game time for The Cumbrians and his performances reflected this – registering seven assists and 11 goals in 38 matches.
The following season, he joined Port Vale for the 2020/21 season before signing for Swindon Town in August 2021.
It was at Swindon where the striker enjoyed his most fruitful spell in front of goal. He scored on his debut for the Robins and he kept up that form all season, tallying 23 goals and contributing 10 assists in 44 games.
He spread his goals across all competitions during his first season with the Club, netting twice in the League Two Play-Off Semi-Final and also finding the back of the net against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Third Round of the FA Cup.
His performances were recognised by his peers and fellow professionals as he was named in the League Two Team of the Season and was awarded the Swindon Town Player of the Year at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
