Darren McGregor’s Hibs Under-18 side put in a magnificent performance against Leeds United and ran out 4-0 winners.

The match against the Whites provided a new experience for a number of our players, testing themselves against good English opposition and having to travel a fair distance for the game.

McGregor’s youngsters began the game well, brimming with confidence from the U18 CAS Elite League outings, and took the lead just after the 20-minute mark. Josh McDonald made a forward run from midfield and went through 1v1 with the goalkeeper. He kept his composure, rounded the ‘keeper, and slotted the ball into the back of the net.

Just five minutes later, it was 2-0! Logan Jiminez rose highest from a corner and powered a header into the back of the net.

Hibs continued to create opportunities and found a third in the 41st minute. Dean Cleland broke up play and played a through ball to Josh McDonald, who once again made no mistake.

Leeds continued to struggle with Hibs’ energy and high press in the second half, and with just 15 minutes remaining McGregor’s youngsters found a fourth.

This time Jamie McMurdo was slipped through the Hibs back-line and poked the ball past the goalkeeper.

An excellent test, and performance, for Hibs’ Under-18s in West Yorkshire.
