Hibs forward Martin Boyle was happy to be back on the pitch, after recovering from the concussion injury he suffered in early March.

The Hibs no.10 was rushed to hospital after suffering a head collusion against Rangers on Sunday 10 March, and after a couple of weeks out – the Australian international was back involved for the Hibees coming off the bench against Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday.

Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Boyle admitted how pleased he was to be back playing so soon.

“It was a great feeling to back. I went to hell and back and was obviously rushed to hospital in my last game as precaution. Head knocks are never nice, they cause a lot of worry but thankfully I managed to get through it.

“I had a lot of symptoms for a week or so but thankfully the international break came at good time and I managed to get myself fully fit. I tried my best to contribute today but it wasn’t to be.”

Boyle replaced Elie Youan with 20 minutes to play, with the Hibees falling to a frustrating 3-1 defeat to Rangers. The result means we drop out of the top six and currently sit seventh with two games to go before the end-of-season split.

“We are disappointed with the result – it is never nice losing a game, we always try and perform and win every game that we play in”, Boyle continued.

“It was a difficult venue, difficult opponents but we conceded to many sloppy goals again. We showed good character to get back into the games, the fans were great again but we need to cut out conceding these sloppy goals.

“These next two matches are very important for us, we need to deliver on the standards that we set ourselves at the start of the season. We need to show fight, character and earn the right to be in the top six.

“As a Club we should be at the top end of the table, our performances this season haven’t shown that but hopefully with the two games remaining, we can take six points and secure our place there.”
