THE LOWDOWN

Following the Winter Break, the Hibees kick off the second half of the 2023/24 campaign against Forfar Athletic in the Fourth Round of the Scottish Cup.

Nick Montgomery’s side come into this one after spending a week in Dubai on an intense mid-season training camp – which consisted of a mixture of fitness work, tactical and skill-based sessions and behind-closed-doors friendly with Swiss side, Servette.

The Hibees have returned fresh and will kick off our Scottish Cup campaign against Scottish League Two side, Forfar Athletic for what will be the first meeting between the two sides in the Scottish Cup in 53 years!

The match takes place on Saturday 20 January; kick-off at 3pm at Station Park.

TEAM NEWS

Nick Montgomery will provide a full team news update when he speaks to the media on Friday afternoon.

Harry McKirdy made his return to competitive action earlier this year, coming off the bench in a 2-2 draw with Motherwell on 2 January. Harry got another important 45 match minutes under his belt in Dubai and could feature again this weekend.

The Hibees will be without Jojo Wollacott, Rocky Bushiri, Martin Boyle and Lewis Miller who are all away on international duty, whilst Jake Doyle Hayes, Adam Le Fondre and Chris Cadden are all working their way back to full fitness.

THE HOSTS

Forfar currently sit eight in cinch League Two on 20 points from 20 games. The Angus-based side played through the Winter Break, beating Elgin City (2-1) and losing (2-1) to Stenhousemuir in the first two weeks of the year before their match with Clyde was postponed last weekend.

The last time the two sides met was in October 2020 in the Scottish League Cup. David Gray scored the only goal of the game at Station Park, with Christian Doidge the only member of the starting team that day still in the Hibernian FC First Team squad.

The last meeting between Hibs and Forfar in the Scottish Cup took place in January 1971 – with Hibs legend Jimmy O’Rourke netting a hat-trick in an 8-1 victory.
