Hibernian defender Stacey Papadopoulos spoke to the media before the team face Aberdeen on Sunday.

Papadopoulos made her first competitive appearance for the Hibees last weekend in our narrow 2-1 victory over Partick Thistle in Maryhill.

The Aussie defender played the full game, and was impressed by the standards shown by her teammates.

"It was really good to get 95 minutes under my belt," Papadopoulos told the press.

"It was good to get a run with the girls, my first competitive match. Done and dusted. And to start the season off with three points was important for us.

"I knew the Partick game was a big game, the girls here last year let me know they had a tough time against them last season.

"It was really important for us to start the season off strong with three points, but it was also important for us confidence-wise to get that win over them."

This Sunday's fixture is Hibs Women's first home game of the campaign and Papadopoulos is relishing the opportunity to play in front of our home support for the first time.

"The Hibs fans are amazing. We had a game in pre-season at Meadowbank and they came out in full force. I just kept thinking about how it would be at a regular season game.

"The turnout was amazing and they all seemed so passionate. I'm very excited to play in front of them and hopefully get a win.

"With Aberdeen coming up, it's an opportunity to score goals and get another win to put ourselves in a good position on the ladder. We can really do something special this year with the squad."

Papadopoulos also answered questions on her move to EH7 from Down Under, as well as how she has settled into life in Scotland's capital and what her aims are for the season ahead.

"I wanted to test myself a little and make a change. I saw that Hibs were a team that were progressing and I wanted to be a part of that progression.

"There were really good conversations between me, Grant and Stewart. They helped make this transition really easy, it felt a good fit. They sold me on a few things and it felt really right.

"We have got some characters in there. Everyone has been really helpful and we have a very good mix of experienced players, including some up-and-coming players as well - which is really important for a team.

"We've got some really funny characters who make it fun to come to work every day. We keep it fun but also keep it competitive.

"We want to succeed as much as we can this season. Top three is on my mind. We want to push the limits as much as we can and be competitive every week."
