Cadden and McKirdy have been two of the Club’s three long-term injuries, but both have been out on the pitch with the physios this week.

Cadden has been ruled out since May with an Achilles injury, but was warmly welcomed back onto the pitch by his teammates.

“He’s a really valuable member of the squad; everyone loves Chrissy Cadden,” smiled Montgomery.

“He’s an ultimate professional, you see him in the gym, and he has a smile on his face every day, even though when coming back from a long-term injury you just want to be out on the grass.

“To see him out there running and everyone celebrating was something he really appreciated. It’s just the next step on his journey back to full fitness. I’m looking forward to getting him back.

“He comes into every team meeting, he’s in every individual analysis video meeting, previews, reviews, and he’s soaking up as much information as he can, so when he comes back onto the pitch, he’s part of the group and the way we’re playing.”

There was also positive news as McKirdy stepped up his recovery on the pitch by doing some small work with the ball.

“It was a tough time for Harry, but he’s on his journey to get back fit,” explained Montgomery.

“It’s hard to put a date on him being back, but he was out taking free-kicks today and he was involved in a bit with the boys. He’s always laughing and joking, so it’s more about him taking his time to get his confidence back.

“He’s an exciting player, but we won’t be rushing him to make sure he comes back as fit as possible.”

Alongside those two, Jake Doyle-Hayes is also out injured with an ankle issue. Our Head Coach explained how positive it’ll be when all three are back fit.

“The likes of Harry McKirdy, Chris Cadden and Jake Doyle-Hayes are going really well. If we can get them back by January, without putting any pressure on them, then they’re like three new signings.

“I’m looking forward to working with them on the pitch and they will really add value to the squad.”
