In memory of our late Executive Chairman, we have launched a special challenge which will see a football match at the Club’s training centre played continuously over a 24-hour period.

Ron’s love of the Football Club, the Hibernian Community Foundation, and the Hibernian FC supporters combine to create something that will continue his legacy.

Hibernian FC Chief Executive, Ben Kensell, commented: “We’re delighted to launch the 24-Hour Football Challenge, as it’s a challenge that really epitomises our late Executive Chairman Ronald J Gordon.

“Ron was an extremely passionate man and someone who cared dearly about the role the Football Club plays in the local community.

“We want to create something special, and something that carries on the legacy of a great man, by bringing supporters and people together, right to the heart of the Football Club, to raise money for the Hibernian Community Foundation.

“I think this challenge is really exciting and could be really testing, especially for those playing at 3am or 4am, but ultimately it’ll be a good laugh for everyone and will bring the football club, the supporters, and the Community Foundation all together.”

The 24-hour game will take place on Saturday 24 June at 3pm and end 24-hours later (3pm on Sunday 25 June), at the Hibernian Training Centre (Ormiston Road, Tranent, EH35 5NG) and we’d love as many supporters as possible to take part!

Supporters can play for one-hour or longer – if you’d like a challenge – and will be managed by either a men’s or women’s First Team player.

It costs £15 to play (for an hour or more) and we ask that supporters raise at least £100 each for the Hibernian Community Foundation.

Our late Executive Chairman Ronald J Gordon always wanted the Football Club to be there to serve the local community. The money raised from the event will pay for community lunches for those struggling most with the cost-of-living crisis. Over 100 elderly people, families, lone parents, registered disabled people will be supported each week with the provision of hot lunches served in the stadium for the next year.

We’d also encourage players to bring their families down to the Club’s Training Ground on the Sunday from 12 noon until 3pm for a family fun day, where there will be entertainment for all ages!

There are also special prizes for the top fundraisers for the event!
