THE LOWDOWN
Hibernian Women return to action this weekend as they host Celtic Women at Meadowbank Stadium (kick-off 4:10pm) in SWPL 1 action.
Thanks to goals from Eilidh Adams, Shannon Leishman and Lia Tweedie, the Hibees were able to secure a 4-0 away win over Hamilton Women last weekend as the side looks to break into the top four in the SWPL 1.
Dean Gibson’s side currently sit 5th in the SWPL 1 table on 32 points – five points behind Hearts Women in 4th and four points ahead of Partick Thistle Women in 6th. A win over Celtic Women on Sunday could prove vital in the race for the top four.
THE OPPOSITION
Celtic Women are having an excellent season and have so far only lost two league games out of a possible 21 – both against Glasgow City. Fran Alonso’s side currently sit 2nd in the SWPL 1 table, six points behind the league-leaders Glasgow City and one point ahead of Rangers Women in 3rd.
The Hibees have met Celtic Women once already this campaign, in their opening game SWPL 1 game, where Alonso’s side secured an emphatic 9-0 win.
Sunday’s game will also be crucial for Celtic Women as they look to keep pace with Glasgow City in the title race.
