Speaking to Sky Sports after the fixtures were released, Marshall shared his thoughts on the announcement.

“Fixture day is always exciting and it gets everyone going. We’ve got a good start to the season - we are looking forward to being at home having been away in the first game last season.

“We’ve got a good record against St Mirren, we know they are a good team and they finished just behind us in the table so we are looking forward to it.

“We’ve got the European qualifiers mixed into the start of the season as well so it is going to be a testing start for us. Hopefully, we can get a few good results in Europe and take that form into the league campaign."

The first Edinburgh Derby takes place on Saturday 7 October at Tynecastle, before games against both Rangers and Celtic in the month of October.

“The Hearts games are always the ones that everyone looks for straight away and the month of October is massive with games against both of the Old Firm. Hopefully, we can get off to a good start and we can be in a good place come October.

“We are in a good place going into the season. We’re away to Marbella next week for our pre-season training camp and the Club has done some good early work in the transfer window. I am sure there will be another few additions but we are in a good place at the moment.”
