McGeady made his first league start since he joined in the summer and was influential in helping the Hibees get back to winning ways with a 3-2 victory over Motherwell at Fir Park.
The 36-year-old was a standout performer on Sunday, displaying his game-management and leadership skills on the pitch, whilst chipping in with an important assist – setting up Kevin Nisbet’s opening goal with a pin-point cross into the striker.
Speaking to hibernianfc.co.uk, McGeady told us how happy he was to be back playing football.
“The injury really set me back a lot, it was a recurrence of the same injury that I did last season. There is nothing worse than being injured, the last four or five months have been some of the worst of my career and you question whether you are going to get over it or not.
“It is all worth it for days like today when you actually enjoy playing football again and show you can still make an impact.
“I feel that I owe the Club and the fans something as I have not played a lot of football. I still love playing football and feel like I have something to offer.”
The win lifts the Hibees up to seventh in the cinch Premiership and McGeady is confident that Sunday’s win can be the start of a positive turn of fortune.

“The league is so tight that if you win a few games in a row you can shoot up the table. We need to put on a run together now, we have got Dundee United next in the league and then Hearts in the Scottish Cup.
“We have been on a bad run as a team, we all know it has not been good enough, but hopefully we can kick on after our win over Motherwell.”
