We fell to our second defeat of the cinch Premiership campaign with second-half strikes from Conor Wilkinson and Mika Biereth securing the points for The Steelmen at Fir Park.
Adam Le Fondre did pull one back in stoppage time, but it was too little to late, and speaking after the match Paul Hanlon admitted the performance was simply not good enough.
He told Hibs TV: “We are hugely disappointed. After the high of Thursday, we wanted to back that up with a good performance and result, but we never really found the answers today.
“We worked hard, we huffed and puffed but we never really threatened them throughout the game and then two moments of sloppiness has cost us goals. Overall, it was a very disappointing day.
“I don’t want to come out and make excuses, we needed to be a lot better than we were today. Defensively, offensively, all over the pitch we weren’t good enough.”
Hibs return to UEFA Europa Conference League duty on Thursday and Hanlon emphasised the importance on moving on quickly from what has been a poor start to our league campaign.
“The games are coming thick and fast, so at the moment it is all about preparing for the next game. Our immediate focus now has to shift to Thursday, we need to recover as quickly as possible so that we are fresh heading into Thursday.
“We have shown that we can recover after a defeat - we lost to St Mirren and bounced back in midweek – it is another huge test on Thursday now but we have enough quality and character in the squad to do it again.”
