What can Hibs fans expect from Ewan Henderson?

Hibs fans can expect to see a technically gifted forward thinking attacking midfielder who has also shown his ability from a wide position when required.

Ewan Henderson is an intelligent footballer who is more than happy to take the ball into feet, even in tight situations, and has in previous years shown real ability in picking up pockets of space and creating chances in the final third.

While primarily focused on going forward, Henderson also offers some presence at 6ft 1in and hasn’t been afraid to get involved in the more combative side of Scottish football if necessary.

What are Ewan’s best qualities?

As before, he has a real vision and eye for a killer pass. There have also been glimpses of his range of passing which have led to rapid counter-attacks or space for his team-mates.

His ability on the ball in open play is partnered with his dead-ball delivery which proved a useful asset in his fleeting outings for Celtic.

Similarly, Henderson is happy to run beyond the attacker and carry the ball himself and is capable of hitting the target from range.

What affect could being back with Shaun Maloney have on him?

It’s no surprise to hear Henderson was so keen to work under Shaun Maloney after playing under him in development squads at Celtic.

With the type of player he is, Maloney seems from the outside to be an ideal mentor as Henderson continues to develop.

There’s no doubt the style of football Maloney has outlined as his favoured system would benefit Henderson’s game and could bring the best out of the 21-year-old.

Did he just need an opportunity to play in the cinch Premiership regularly and how much would that benefit him?

While he only played 19 minutes of football for Celtic this season before joining Hibs, Henderson does have experience in the top-flight from previous seasons and a loan spell with Ross County.

There have been glimpses of real talent in those outings and it could be the case that a consistent run of games bring out some of his best performances.

It's an exciting prospect for Henderson, Maloney and indeed the Hibs support with both the player and manager already showing their enthusiasm to be working together which could easily translate into impressive showings on the pitch.

How much potential does he have?

It’s important to remember Henderson is still just 21 years old and has years of development ahead of him.

It remains to be seen how involved he’ll be in regard to starting line-ups or substitute appearances when the Scottish Premiership resumes but he’s no doubt got enough quality to compete in the league.

Under Maloney it’d be expected he’d grow and mature his game which could develop him into a top player for Hibs in years to come.
