Kyle Magennis bagged a brace with Chris Cadden and Kevin Nisbet also on target as the Hibees put on a show at Easter Road.
David Marshall saved two penalties in as many minutes in the second half to ensure the Hibees kept a well-deserved clean sheet.
Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Lee Johnson was delighted with both the performance and the result.
"It was a really important time for us to get a win. We had to get the monkey off our back in terms of getting a win under our belt. You see how compact the league is, obviously we have been disappointed with our recent run of results, but there have been some positives to take and today – I think it all came together.
"We have maintained our belief in the players. You saw players were confident today and put on a performance that the fans deserved. We are proud of the players and proud of the Club as a whole."
Johnson highlighted several standout players in his post-match interview that he was particularly impressed with.
"Today, we showed our confidence and flair on the ball. Elie Youan was outstanding, Magennis got his two goals – Nisbet was on the scoresheet and showed his class. It was the makeup of a consistent winning performance.
"The clean sheet was largely down to Marsh for his two penalty saves. He deserves a huge amount of credit, because he has been great since he came in."
The win lifts us up to seventh in the cinch Premiership, leapfrogging Livingston and cutting the gap to Aberdeen in third to just two points.
Up next, we host Celtic at Easter Road; kick-off at 8pm on Wednesday 28 December, 2022.
