Rachael has been out of action for a number of months now due to pregnancy with her second child born in September 2022, Baby Sophia. As a club, we are committed to providing Rachael, Martin, and their family with as much support as possible throughout the coming months.
Having signed a new long-term contract earlier this year, Rachael has been an integral part to our success on the pitch since arriving from Aberdeen in 2016. ‘Smally’ has had a fantastic career in Edinburgh thus far, winning numerous domestic cups and featuring regularly in international camps.
Technically excellent, a natural leader, and a massively popular figure in the dressing room, players, staff, and fans alike will be delighted to see Rachael back in the playing squad for the new year.
Dean Gibson commented on Rachael’s return saying: “For Rachael personally, it’s a great achievement to come back from her second pregnancy.
“This time round she has the experience of the rehab process, but at the same time that process is a difficult one. Fair play to Rachael it shows how determined she it to get herself back on the pitch.
“Having ‘Smally’ back with the group is a proud moment for herself but also a proud moment for the Club because she’s a huge part of our squad. Rachael’s experience is just as important as her ability as a player.”
On her return to training Rachael Boyle said: “I’m really enjoying being back. Although I’ve got a long way to go to get my fitness levels up, it’s great being back amongst the girls.”
“They have all been really supportive and I am looking to get back into match day squads as quickly as possible. It’s been tough watching from the sidelines every week but I’m working hard everyday to put myself in a position to be able to contribute to the success of the team for the second half of the season.”
Club Captain Joelle Murray added: “It’s been good to have ‘Smally’ back; it’s like she’s never been away.
“She’s intergraded back into the group very well, especially with the new players. She’s definitely not lost it; you can see the quality is still there!
“She’s delighted to be back, we’re delighted to have her back, and we can’t wait to see her back on the pitch.”
