Born in Huddersfield, England Ryan Schofield came up through the youth ranks at Huddersfield Town FC, joining his boyhood club at U9.

The promising young goalkeeper progressed through the age groups at Huddersfield Town before being awarded a long-term deal with the Club in 2020.

After graduating from the Huddersfield Town Academy, Schofield enjoyed several spells on loan at various clubs in the UK.

The first of which was an emergency loan at FC United of Manchester, before joining fellow lower league side Telford United in 2018 for another short spell.

In January 2019 he joined English League Two side Notts County, for the second half of the 2018/19 season making 17 appearances and keeping four clean sheets during his time with the Magpies.

The goalkeeper went on to make his Huddersfield Town senior debut in August 2019 in the English League Cup, before getting his first taste of the English Championship in October that year – keeping a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough.

In the January transfer window, Schofield sampled Scottish football for the first time after he joined Livingston on loan for the remainder of the 2019/20 season.

He featured three times for the West Lothian outfit before the season was cut short due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

The following season – at the age of just 20 years old – Ryan Schofield made his breakthrough into the Huddersfield First Team. He featured 30 times in the Championship, keeping seven clean sheets in the process.

The following season, he made another three appearances for The Terriers before signing on loan with the Hibees this summer!

The 22-year-old shot-stopper also has experience on an international level – representing England at U18, U19 and U20 level.

After impressing for his Club in 2017, Schofield went on to make his U18, U19 and U20 debuts in the same year, progressing rapidly through the age groups.

He made his debut for the U20s in Toulon Tournament in May 2017, keeping a clean sheet against Angola before going on to have a very impressive competition – culminating in England lifting the story with Schofield saving the winning penalty in the final against Ivory Coast.

Our latest recruit will now join up with David Marshall and the rest of the First Team squad as we prepare for our trip to Paisley on Saturday.
