THE LOWDOWN
This Sunday sees Hibs take on Hamilton in the second game of the new SWPL 1 season, with the match being Hibs’ first to take place at the newly redeveloped Meadowbank Stadium.
After tasting defeat on the season opener away against Celtic last weekend, Dean Gibson anticipated a reaction from his squad in training leading up to our clash with Accies. Sunday’s match gives the girls in green a perfect opportunity to bounce back straight away, as they welcome the Hibs faithful to Meadowbank for the first time.
THE OPPOSITION
Hamilton will come into Sunday’s match full of confidence after their opening day delight against Aberdeen, with Accies running out 3-1 winners at The Fountain of Youth Stadium.
Despite finishing 10th in last season’s SWPL 1, Gary Doctor’s Accies have become known for being tricky to break down and with promising additions in attack, the Lanarkshire side will be looking to push themselves as far away from the bottom of the table as possible.
TEAM NEWS
After her dismissal against Celtic, Siobhan Hunter will miss out on this weekend’s match. Furthermore, Liana Hinds is still in the process of finalising permits and therefore remains unavailable for selection.
Dean will have the option of including Kirsty Morrison in his matchday squad, with the winger re-joining the action after recovering from illness. Academy goalkeeper Hannah Marriott has also continued training with the first team and with Ailey Tebbett still side-lined, she will be part of the matchday squad once again.
