The Hibs central midfielder made his debut against Turkey, coming off the bench at half-time during a 2-0 defeat at Tynecastle.
It was the first time Josh has been called up to represent his country at any age group and despite the defeat, Josh told us how proud a moment it was for him.
"It was a proud moment for me. I had a lot of my family in the stand at Tynecastle watching so for them to witness me getting my first U21 cap was a very proud moment for us all.
"I felt good when I came on, I was playing against different kinds of players and opponents that I have never experienced before so it was good to test the water.
“In terms of the game, it was a disappointing result. I don’t think we were very good on the night and on the night Turkey were the better team.”

Hibernian teammate Josh Doig was also part of the squad and Campbell enjoyed having a familiar face around the camp.
"It was a massive help having Josh (Doig) there with me, he was keeping me right throughout the whole week. He was helping me out with kit, keeping me on my toes with the meetings times, schedules and everything.
"He helped introduce and break me in with the other boys as well so it was very helpful having him there."
After losing their first match the Scots then travelled East to take on Kazakhstan in Almaty. After impressing against Turkey, Josh earned himself a well-deserved start.
In very challenging conditions the Scots were held to a 2-2 draw with Kazakhstan equalising in stoppage time.
"I thought I did very well against Turkey when I came on, so I had a feeling I would start against Kazakhstan.
"To make my debut against Turkey was a proud moment but I was even prouder to make my first start in a Scotland strip.
"It was an eight-and-a-half hour flight and the game itself was mental really. One word I would use to describe that game is ‘wow’.
"I have never experienced anything like that in my life – the conditions were unbelievable. It went from 15 degrees to 2 degrees in the space of 90 minutes and I have never been so cold in my life!"

Despite results not going their way, Josh relished the international experience and is hungry for more.
"You get the taste for it with these trips and you just want more and more.
"Hopefully, I am selected for the next squad and then the next jump is trying to get into the Men’s A Squad."
