THE LOWDOWN

We return to the cinch Premiership this weekend following the October international break, where nine Hibees were called up for their respective countries.

Prior to the break, we suffered our first loss of the season falling to a 2-1 defeat to Rangers. Despite that, Jack Ross has had a full two-week period with the majority of his squad to prepare for this fixture and to bounce back.

Our opponents, Dundee United, come into this game off the back of a 1-0 win over Ross County.

TEAM NEWS

Jack Ross will be without Ryan Porteous following his red card against Rangers. We tried to appeal the dismissal, but it was unsuccessful.

On a positive note, it was excellent to see Jamie Murphy back on the pitch at Ibrox after his long injury lay-off.

Kyle Magennis missed our last league outing. Jack Ross will provide an update on him in our press conference on Thursday (14 October).

Christian Doidge, Melker Hallberg and Sean Mackie are all unavailable due to long-term injuries.

THE VISITORS

Dundee United currently sit fifth in the cinch Premiership taking 14 points from their last opening eight fixtures.

The Terrors have won four of their league games so far and are unbeaten in their last four outings.

On the road, however, they have only won once; that came against St. Johnstone towards the latter end of August. Despite this, they held Celtic to a 1-1 draw three weeks ago.

Off the pitch, the club has been busy during the international break, signing striker Maxime Biamou (above) until the end of the season. He was released by Coventry City in the summer.

In the league, their top scorer is Ian Harkes with two. However, Peter Pawlett – the man who scored in our 3-1 win over them in the Premier Sports Cup earlier this season – has four to his name in all competitions.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The last time we faced Dundee United was in the Premier Sports Cup, where we won 3-1. An impressive first half showing saw us 3-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Joe Newell, Scott Allan and Martin Boyle.

Last season we won three out of four games against Dundee United, one of which was a memorable night for the Hibees!

That win meant it was the first time we got into the Scottish Cup final since that amazing day back in 2016.

It was a deserved victory for us after Kevin Nisbet's calm finish from the edge of the box gave Jack Ross' side a merited half-time advantage.

Christian Doidge was offside when he found the net after the break, but the goal stood to double our lead.

After the game, Jack Ross said: “I would've taken any sort of win, but I thought I got a win that was fitting of the levels this season.

"Really delighted for the players and staff. They've been outstanding for me all season. I believed the players would prove they were good."
