Joining Steve Clarke’s men to take on familiar opposition in Israel, before heading out to the Faroe Islands will be Kevin Nisbet, hopefully buoyed by his recent goal against Rangers at Ibrox.

The 24-year-old will be looking to snare his ninth cap and build on his single goal for the national side as wins against both Israel and Faroe Islands, as well as three points against Moldova in November, would secure a second placed finish.

Scotland’s first World Cup qualifying match for the upcoming tournament in Qatar next year will be against Israel on 9 October, home at Hampden (17:00 BST kick-off) before heading out to the country’s capital of Tórshavn on 12 October (19:45 BST kick-off) at the Tórsvøllur national ground.

Elsewhere, in-form attacker Martin Boyle will be heading out to Doha as a neutral venue when the Socceroos take on Oman on the 7 October (19:30 BST) to remain top of their qualification table, before a tricky fixture against Japan on the 12 October (11.14 BST).

Alex Gogic joins Cyprus to take on Croatia followed by Malta on the 8 and 11 October at 19:45 BST and 17:00 BST respectively, with both fixtures taking place in Cyprus’ GSP Stadium.

Six Hibs youngsters will see some action over the break - with Josh Doig and James Scott squaring off against Denmark at Tynecastle (19:05 BST kick-off) in the UEFA Under 21 Championship.

Nathan Wood will join England for their U20 Elite League ties against Italy on 7 October (19:00 BST kick-off) at home before an away trip to the Czech Republic to meet their Under-20 national side on 11 October in a 17:00 BST kick-off.

Representing the Scottish U19s will be Murray Johnson (below) as they have a couple of behind-closed-doors friendlies.

Two of our U16s have been given the call for the national side taking part in the 2021 Victory Shield in Belfast. Jacob MacIntyre and Rudi Allan Molotnikov will take on the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales on 17 October (15:00 BST kick-off), 19th (15:00 BST kick-off) and 22 October (11:00 BST kick-off) respectively.
