We got off to a good start this season, performing well and progressing in the Europa Conference League, and winning our opening cinch Premiership match of the campaign.

Now, on the eve of our fourth competitive game, and a next step up in quality as we face Croatian top-flight side HNK Rijeka, Macey wants to keep that winning momentum going.

“It’s been a good start, three wins out of three competitively; that’s the standard we set ourselves now.

“Even before the start of the season we knew we wanted to kick on from last year. A good start always helps.

“Rijeka are a good team; we’ve seen a little bit about them. You’ve got to expect a step up in team every round you go through in Europe.

“It’ll be a good couple of games and something we’re looking forward to.”

HNK Rijeka are currently top of the Croatian top-flight albeit after just three games and the goalkeeper explained what type of side he’s expecting to face.

“You never really know what you’re going to get in Europe, they could change it up a little bit and surprise us.

“You expect good technical players, a bit of pace, and as we’ve seen already the games are quite possession based and tactical. I feel like we’re ready for that.”

There will also be 5,600 supporters inside Easter Road, which is another increase at our home ground.

The players have continued to have the taste of supporters back in stadiums and were able to celebrate the win over Motherwell in front of 2,000 travelling Hibees on Sunday.

Macey detailed how that helped push the players on and what difference they could make against Rijeka.

“We had a great day on Sunday with the fans there and in the first round with the fans here too.

“The more fans the better, it gives us an extra 10% each time we get a few more. With them behind us it makes us feel more confident.

“The supporters can make a big difference for us. They got us over the line on Sunday and we’ll need that at times this season.”
